Iron Man

There might be spoilers in this so beware. Then again, if you read this blog, you should have seen it by now, so you shouldn't care.

Well, I really liked this movie and cannot think of any bad things to say about it. Seriously, no bad things whatsoever. Normally, I go and see a comic book movie and then think of all these ways it is different and all these things that I dislike. However, with this one, there were differences, but none that bothered me at all. The movie was just a lot of fun and I enjoyed all of th different random references that there were. The group that captures him is the Ten Rings group and its leader has a nice ring (Mandarin), Rhodes sees the Silver version of the armor and says, "Maybe next time," Obadiah calls him and Tony "Iron Mongers", which is the name of the armor that Obadiah chose when he had armor to challenge Stark. Samuel L Jackson as Fury was awesome, and I love how Ultimate Nick Fury was based off of Samuel L Jackson who is now playing Nick Fury in Marvel movies (I say Marvel movies because they are trying to make their own Marvel universe, which is something he even actually said in his speech to Tony, when he talked about the Avengers Initiative). I also thought it was kind of cool that the director, Jon Fraveau actually was in the movie as an actual character in the comics (Happy Hogan). I really did like the movie, which was also slightly disappointing to me, as I wanted to dislike the movie as I don't like Iron Man as a character in the comics, although I realize that one of the main reasons I dislike the character is because he is concerned about the ways that all these people in the MU can destroy lots of stuff and hurt people by not being trained. But in the Movie MU, there are much fewer characters, and I don't think there is nearly the same risk and he wouldn't act in the same way. In this, I think I can like him a lot more and so I think I can get past my hatred of the 616 character. Man, Downey really captured Tony Stark well. I still am impressed with the entire movie and everything in it, including the acting. It was just a really well done superhero movie. It was funny and had a lot of good action and was just amazing.

Oh my God it was amazing. I'm totally with you; I hate Iron Man with the passion of a thousand exploding suns, but the Iron Man in the movie wasn't the Iron Man of the comics. Different person, so it's okay to like it!

I really think that Downey Jr. didn't play Tony Stark- he was Tony Stark.

And at the end when the mysterious man in the shadows turned around and was Nick Fury I GOT SO EXCITED I STARTED SHAKING AND I COULDN'T BREATHE. I'm so glad I don't hate Ultimate Fury anymore. I still don't love him, but I can definitely handle him now. I'm so excited for the Captain America and Avengers movies.

Good luck on your final today! May the power of Deadpool be with you!

Yeah, as a different person, it really works. See, I realized Nick Fury was in it, and that Samuel L. Jackson was Nick Fury, so I was expecting it the entire movie that Nick would be there and confront Tony about being with S.H.I.E.L.D., plus all of the people on VSRealms were adamant about staying til the end of the credits, so at the end of the movie, when the credits started rolling, I realized that the ending afterwards had to be Nick Fury confronting Stark.
My main question is how they will do a Captain America movie. They could do many different things.
1) Like nothing ever happened, and Cap is just a hero in the world and it goes over some stuff that he does to save the world (aka the character already "exists" and this just details some exploits as opposed to an origins tory and whatever).
2) He was in WWII and they go over stuff from then (aka he fights against the Nazis in WWII, taking place back then).
3) He was in WWII, then got frozen and is revived present day (aka Ultimates type thing).
4) He fought in a later war (like Nam or Dester Storm) and was frozen and revived (less removed from present, but still to an extent).
5) Specifically created for the present Iraq War.
These are off the top of my head how they could do it. I think that for the Ultimates, 3 worked well, and I agree with Millar that he is just a WWII character and without that, he is very different. However, I'm not sure if that would work as well in a major motion picture. Also, they could have or not have Bucky. Yay Winter Soldier!

Ugh, I hope they don't update it to Iraq. That would really ruin Cap's origin story. My guess is that they'd have him in WWII briefly at the beginning, show him getting frozen, and then jump ahead to him getting found and fighting in the present day.

Corey and Aaron want them to do an entire movie with Cap in WWII ending with him getting frozen and then in a second movie having him being found in the present day. I think that would be cool, but we all know they'd never do that.

And woah, I hadn't even thought about what they'd do for Bucky. Seems like they'd have him in WWII and then just forget about him. Bringing Winter Soldier into play would be a bit much for one movie.

I agree that I like him being from WWII, but I'm not sure how that would work all in all. Again, it worked for the Ultimates, but I'm not sure if it would translate to a major motion picture that non-comic fans see. Would people care about his origins as much? If they do the jump in between times, there has to be stuff like in Ultimates where he has no idea about the future and has trouble adjusting, but I'm not sure if people want to see that in an action filled superhero movie.
