Paranoia

Okay, so I am paranoid in a lot of situations, and this is one of them. Near the beginning of this blog, I decided to see how many people actually read the blog. The easiest way for me to do that was to put a counter (small one) at the very bottom of the page. If you scroll all the way down, you can see it. Here, I'll make it easy to come back to the same spot. THIS IS WHERE YOU WERE!!! Okay, so you probably saw it. Now, I have no idea if that is an accurate representation of the number of people. It could just be that when I go to the page, or anyone else who reads it on a regular basis, it keeps adding, so I'm really not at 1200+ views on my blog. So, to satisfy a curiosity, I'm asking every person who reads this post, and this sentence in particular, to post a comment on this entry. You can just say "Hi" or let me know if you read on a regular basis, or just this one entry or whatever, but I want to try to figure out how many people actually do read this. I know not everybody who reads this will post a comment (unless there are so few people that actually do read this), but I at least want to know how many people will comment if I ask them to nicely. Please. Pretty please with a cherry on top. Pleeeeease.

Okay, so I do read this blog on a regular basis, and write it on a regular basis too. Since I did read the entry, I feel I should post a comment.

I'm trying to think of something clever to say, but nothing's coming to mind. ANYWAY, I read your blog, so I'm commenting.

Wow, so a total of two people read that post yesterday apparently. It has been a day and only two people, including me, have read it. Funny, because the counter went up by about 10 or so in between two times I checked. Now, that either means that people accidentally read that post and jumped away as soon as possible, they were lead to a certain post that they read and then moved away, they were too scared to post a comment, because they would then know I know they read it, or people had too much to do yesterday that they couldn't be trifled with me. Or they just didn't care and wanted to make me more paranoid.

Mooo.

This is one of the reasons I went with Wordpress as the home for Lost Hemisphere.

It does a spiffy keen job of tracking stats for you, including listing what people are typing into search engines to find your page, where they've clicked links to come to your page (referrers) etc.

Yesterday someone did a search for "cliff squire" in the search engine of their choice, and clicked a link to Lost Hemisphere.

There are third party apps out there that will gather these stats for you, such as statcounter, but Wordpress has everything built in and is much more user friendly.
For example, I can tell you that yesterday four people came to Lost Hemisphere from the link at Kamiza's blog (specifically, the Last Man Standing decklist post).

Eh, but I just want to know who actually reads this. I mean, I know that over 50 people have read my blog since I put this post up, but only you, myself and my friend Amy have actually responded. I mean, as of the last time I checked, I had a total of 1303 people who had visited since I put my statcounter up. I also have had comments from about 6 people and my responses. Now, I am fairly certain that in 1303 people, there were not the 7 of us just looking and re-looking. I just want to see who will respond.

The only reason I went with Blogger is I already has an account for a project last year in my Environmental Science class. Plus, it is the only one I really knew.

Okay, so apparently 1 person other than me actually reads this blog per day. I am not going to have any more posts until comic day, to see if anybody else has the guts to actually leave a comment, letting the world know they read my ramblings.

I'm here, I just caught Oscar fever yesterday and had a deadline and the dog ate my Mobilize.

See, one person per day that is unique! Yeah, I have stuff that I want to post, but I'll wait for Thursday to see if Wednesday makes any more people see the blog. Sigh... At least we're up to 4 total now (including me).

One thing that might be holding them back.

The only way to leave comments here is with a Google name. Some of the other blogs allow an OpenID crossover to WordPress, and some are pretty much open completely.

There is a level of work involved in posting to this site.

Hmmm, so only 4 people, including me, out of the 200+ people that have visited my site (according to my stat counter) have Google accounts? I don't think so. I think at least 10 people would, if not a lot more. Oh well, still 1+ hour left for someone else to post so that I am not wholly incorrect about 1 new person per day.

Awww, I was wrong. Nobody new showed up in the past 24 hours. Well, I'm still waiting until past Wednesday to see if people will post after the day where I do my largest updates (with new comics).

Carlos says "hello" and "I like your blog."

Well nobody else from yesterday/today although Miguel for today/tomorrow, so we have a total of 5 people (including me) who read my blog from Friday until now. Wow. Comic review will go up later today or tomorrow depending on variables.

Well, _I'M_ looking forward to the post at least.

One thing that may be hampering comments is that only people with google or blogger accounts can post comments...
